Scarlet Ibis for granny j

granny j got me thinking about one of my all time favorite Birds I've Never Seen.

So this one's for you, granny j.

Wouldn't you just love to see THAT one walking down the creek bed in Prescott? http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.photohome.com/pictures/animal-pictures/birds/scarlet-ibis-1a.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.photohome.com/photos/animal-pictures/birds/scarlet-ibis-1.html&h=600&w=400&sz=91&tbnid=t9YYamorbiyouM:&tbnh=135&tbnw=90&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dscarlet%2Bibis&start=2&sa=X&oi=images&ct=image&cd=2

What a beautiful bird. It looks almost unreal.

Thanks, k -- you just know I'd love to see one of these beasties marching down a local wash. I'll bet you would, too! Wikipedia says that they got some pink ibis back a few years ago when eggs from Trinidad were snuck into a white ibis nest & there was subsequent interbreeding. With my preference for red, I think being ibis-ed would beat being flamingo-ed all hollow!

Doesn't he, Kirsten? I seem to particularly like animals and flowers with that half-unreal, *almost looks fake* thing goin' on.

Oh, granny j, I am so tickled about this EXTREMELY RED bird for you!!! hee hee hee!!! Flamingoes are nice too, but really pink not red, see?

And a PINK ibis?!

How very bizarre! I mean, I thought it was usually just humans that blended colors that way when we mix the parent colors up.

That was a new one on me. Cool!

Hey, I am checking this blog using the phone and this appears to be kind of odd. Thought you'd wish to know. This is a great write-up nevertheless, did not mess that up.
